Account Representative - Per Diem - Outpatient Nutrition Practice - Cornell Hospital

In this role, you will be responsible for performing various functions, including but not limited to, insurance verification, outpatient billing, patient registration and insurance follow-up.  You’ll obtain and verify nutrition and diabetes education insurance coverage by interviewing patients/families and verifying coverage with insurance companies.  Working within outpatient nutrition and diabetes education service areas, you’ll ensure that requested clinical and billing information is supplied timely.  In addition, you’ll ensure that notifications, authorizations, pre-certifications are made, when appropriate and that all patients are categorized correctly with regard to financial class.  You will also investigate patient inquiries involving financial issues and direct patients to appropriate parties to respond to clinical issues.

This is a per diem, day shift position.

Preferred Criteria

• Associates degree
• Two to four year’s prior experience
• Bilingual (Spanish)

Required Criteria

• High School diploma or GED
• One year related experience
• PC/Data entry keyboarding skills
• Effective communication skills. Solid working knowledge of third party insurance payors
• Ability to demonstrate compassion and strong customer service skills
