Join the clinical team at NYP's Center for Autism and the Developing Brain (CADB). Situated on the 200+ acre campus of NYP/Westchester Behavioral Health Center CADB transforms the way patients with ASD and their families access therapeutic services, offering comprehensive healthcare to children and adults including providing ABA, Early Intervention, Occupational Therapy, and Speech Therapy.  CADB is a collaborative program between NewYork-Presbyterian, Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, and Weill Cornell Medical College.

Over a century ago, NewYork-Presbyterian/Westchester Behavioral Health introduced the world to moral, humanistic psychiatric care. We blazed the way for use of the Planetree model and are the first behavioral health facility to be recognized as a Planetree Designated Patient-Centered Hospital. 

Speech Pathologist - Center for Autism - White Plains

The Speech Pathologist will primarily evaluate and treat individuals across the life span with autism spectrum disorder in our outpatient center. Applies a wide variety of therapeutic techniques for rehabilitation of speech, language, and oral motor disorders. Identifies patients with speech and language disorders, upon medical referral, and determines etiology, history, and severity of speech disorders through interviewing and testing techniques. Performs evaluations with special attention to receptive and expressive language skills, pragmatics, speech fluency, vocal and oral motor competence, and articulation. Administers remedial treatments for patients with speech, language, and pragmatic disorders. Provides individual and group therapy. Maintains active and supportive communication with the patient and/or family regarding progress, problems, home programs and other issues related to the therapeutic process. Documents the provision of care and services according to Hospital and regulatory policies and standards. Attends patient related meetings. Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Participates in educational and in-service programs.

In addition to outpatient services, the Speech Pathologist assessed communication skills and develops individualized communication supports for psychiatrically hospitalized patients with neurodevelopmental disorders. Conducts evaluations, creates individualized communication tools and trains hospital staff to implement these strategies effectively.


May perform internal and external public education programs, which may include periodic in-service presentations.

This is a full-time day position with one required evening shift per week located at our NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital / Westchester Behavioral Health campus.

Schedule: Primarily days with some evening availability

Required Criteria

  • Experience 1 - 3 Years prior experience
  • Master's Degree in Speech- Language Pathology from an accredited college or university
  • Licensure as a Speech Pathologist by the State of New York within one year of hire
  • Certification-Speech-Language Pathology by the American Speech and Hearing Association within one year of hire
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification

Preferred Criteria

  • Prior experience working with child, adolescent, and adult populations
  • Prior experience with non-speaking patients
  • Prior experience evaluating and treating individuals with autism spectrum disorder
  • Prior experience in augmentative and alternative communication (AAC)
  • Prior experience working in mental health settings
  • Prior experience creating individualized communication tools
  • Prior experience working in a multidisciplinary team
  • Prior experience training other professionals

Please note that all roles require on-site presence (variable by role). Therefore, all employees should live within a commutable distance to NYP.

$50.00-$67.95/Hourly
