Program Lead - Environmental Health and Safety

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Program Lead will perform environmental and occupational health and safety services for the New York Presbyterian Community. Under the direction of the Manager/Director for Environmental Health and Safety, the EHS Program Lead plays a dual role in providing technical assistance, program coordination and quality control for the Hospital’s Environmental Health and Safety Program, and the Hospitals Fire/Life Safety Program, in areas of training, operations, construction, and inspection. This position supports 20,000 staff with respect to environmental/ occupational health, fire and safety issues. Act as point of escalation for all Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Safety and Fire Safety related questions or concerns Coordinates Hazardous/Universal Waste Programs. Coordinates chemical and physical occupational hazards. Implements Laboratory Safety and Biological Safety Programs. Coordinates SARA Title II/Right-to-Know Program. Provides training, guidance and advice on all health and safety related issues, to major administrative units. Plans, coordinates and conducts fire safety training including fire drills, fire safety i n-services and employee orientation in all hospital buildings including off-site locations. Recommends general safety policies and establishes procedures for compliance with governmental regulations on occupational/environmental health and safety issues. Attends project meetings relative to new/ongoing construction in assigned area. Responsible for oversight of various safety programs including Fire Safety, Above Ceiling Work Permits, Hot Work Permits, Interim Life Safety and Fire Watch. Serves as liaison to governmental agencies with respect to fire, environmental, health and occupational safety issues. Employees subject to on-call Emergency Response.

This is a full time position located at NewYork-Presbyterian/1111Westchester Ave.

Required Criteria

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in experience
  • Successful completion of the following training programs: Certificate of Fitness as Drill Conductor (NYC only), (EPA RCRA, DOT, can be obtained within six months of hire).
  • 2+ years of related experience in Environmental Health and Safety

Please note that all roles require on-site presence (variable by role). Therefore, all employees should live within a commutable distance to NYP.

NYP will not reimburse for travel expenses.

Salary Range:

$74,000 - $111,500/Annual
