Pharmacy Technician- Day Flex (Full-time)

In this role you will be responsible for preparing and labeling medication for delivery/transport or distribution to patient care units and dispensing to outpatients in accordance with established procedures under supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Fills unit doses orders, carts, automated dispensing cabinets, and emergency medications. Prepares sterile and non-sterile products in a USP 797 and USP 800 environment including non-hazardous and hazardous (chemotherapy) preparations.  Reconstitutes solutions, manufactures stock prepares and suspensions, and re-packages medication when needed. Orders, receives, unpacks, and stores medications and supplies in accordance with established procedures and storage requirements. Informs pharmacists of stock needs and of differences noted in products received. Monitors expirations dates, inventory counts, and rotates stock. Assists in set-up, maintenance, and repair of equipment, e.g., automatic dispensing and prepackage machines, etc. Fills stock requisitions. Assists in monitoring appropriateness of drug storage on the floors. Assists with patient care area inspections of medication storage.

Required Criteria:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Pharmacy technician certification (CPhT) with the Pharmacy Certification Board (PTCB) or National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
• New York State (NYS) Pharmacy Technician License
• Excellent organizational, communication, and computer skills
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations, i.e., addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division by passing a pharmacy administered test with a score of > 70%. Ability to pass a reading test by passing a pharmacy administered with a score of > 70%.
• Experience in an approved NYPH pharmacy training program or at least one year work experience in a hospital pharmacy (Retail pharmacy experience may be substituted at the discretion of the pharmacy director).

Please note that all roles require on-site presence (variable by role). Therefore, all employees should live within a commutable distance to NYP.
