Technician Medical Surgical / Medical Assistant - Queens Medical Group - Multispecialty - Heart Failure

In this role, the Medical Assistant performs a variety of clinical and clerical functions, in accordance with established policies and procedures, to assist the practitioners and management in daily office operations. Duties include but not limited to the following:

• Measure and record patient height and weight, perform routine vision and hearing examinations, and take pulse and blood pressure readings.
• Observe the patient’s condition, report abnormal conditions to the staff nurse, and record appropriate documentation in the patient’s records.
• Draw blood from patients and/or perform finger sticks and obtain other specimens as physician or registered nurse requested.
• Assist with diagnostic procedures using aseptic principles in creating and maintaining a sterile field during procedures.
• Use technical skills regarding positioning, wound care, and dressings.
• Maintain stock items for examination and blood drawing rooms, forms used by clinical staff, etc.

This is a 36.25hrs full-time position, Monday-Friday, 9:00AM – 5:00PM. Travel will be required to cover for other practice locations within Queens.

Preferred Criteria

• Medical Assistant experience 3-4 years within a cardiology setting.
• Experience drawing blood (venipuncture) and performing EKG's.
• Current Medical Assistant Certification (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification through AAMA, AMT, NHA or NCCT
• Epic Experience
• Bilingual- English, Mandarin, Cantonese and Korean speaking

Required Criteria

• High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
• Graduate of an Accredited Medical Assistant Program.
• BLS Certification with the American Heart Association
