Per Diem Hemodialysis Technician – Days – Queens
As a Hemodialysis Technician, you’ll play a critical role in delivering safe, effective treatments to patients with End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD). You’ll initiate, monitor, and discontinue hemodialysis sessions while ensuring the highest standards of care and safety.
What You’ll Do:
- Initiate and discontinue hemodialysis treatments following established protocols
- Review and follow standing dialysis orders (e.g., dialyzer type, sodium modeling, access cannulation, flow rates)
- Assemble and prepare dialysis equipment, ensuring all safety features are functioning
- Monitor patients throughout treatment and respond to any concerns
- Remove access needles and establish hemostasis post-treatment
Schedule: This is a per diem role, so shifts will vary between 4:30am–2:45pm, 9:00 am-7:00pm, or 2:00pm–12:00am.
Location: Trude Weishaupt Dialysis Center, an outpatient facility.
Preferred Criteria
- Minimum 2 years experience in direct patient care (e.g., Nursing Assistant) or dialysis unit exposure
Required Criteria
- High School Diploma or GED
- Completion of an approved dialysis training program
- Certification (CCHT, CHT, or CBNT) required within 18 months of hire (per CMS regulations) from BONENT, NNCC, or NNCO
- BCLS certification from the American Heart Association
- Strong communication, organizational, and psychomotor skills
- Ability to lift, bend, and assist with patients or equipment

Please note that all roles require on-site presence (variable by role). Therefore, all employees should live within a commutable distance to NYP.
