Per Diem Echocardiography Technician

At NewYork-Presbyterian Queens, our Non-Invasive Cardiology team plays a critical role in diagnosing and treating heart conditions with precision and compassion. As a Per Diem Echocardiography Technician, you’ll perform high-quality cardiac imaging while delivering an outstanding patient experience.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical & Technical

  • Perform diagnostic echocardiograms using ultrasound equipment
  • Prepare and position patients to ensure optimal imaging and comfort
  • Select appropriate transducers and adjust settings for accurate imaging
  • Capture and document imaging studies, including video and print output
  • Review results with physicians as needed

Equipment & Quality Assurance

  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot echocardiography equipment
  • Ensure equipment is clean, functional, and fully stocked
  • Report malfunctions and supply needs promptly
  • Respond to STAT requests within required timeframes

Patient Care & Collaboration

  • Explain procedures clearly to patients and families to ensure understanding
  • Partner closely with nurses, physicians, and clinical teams
  • Support procedures such as pericardiocentesis when needed
  • Deliver a high level of customer service and professionalism

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Completion of an accredited Echocardiography Training Program
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Echocardiography Technician (or equivalent)

Certifications

  • CCI or ARDMS (Echo) certification required
  • New graduates must obtain ICAEL-recognized certification within 12 months

Skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Solid organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Basic clerical skills (documentation, light typing)
