Lead Clinical Laboratory Technologist - Blood Bank – Part Time Evenings, Weekends
The Lead Technologist operates as a content expert and high functioning lab technologist within the Transfusion Services team. Take advantage of this great advancement opportunity for an experienced Laboratory Technologist!
- Oversees and participates in the technical operations including QA/QC checks, system maintenance issues, accuracy of test results, and general sample troubleshooting.
- Oversees laboratory staff in the performance of qualitative and quantitative test procedures.
- Acts as reference source for technologists in the correlation of test data.
- Implements solutions to problems in processing and delivering highly accurate patient data.
- Participates in QA/QC concerns, which relate to result data delivery and patient care.
- Oversees issues relating to laboratory workflow and productivity.
- Tracks and responds to questions relating to testing procedures and results.
- Participates in the orientation and training of staff.
- Provide staff supervisory coverage as needed.
This is a critical role on our evening shift team, working from 3 pm- 11 pm including every other weekend.
Required Criteria
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related science
- New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist licensure from the New York Education department
- Meets all requirements of the New York State Department of Health for a Laboratory Supervisor
- Knowledge of laboratory policies and procedures
- Strong communication skills
Preferred Criteria
- ASCP certification
- Master's degree in Medical Technology or related science
- Laboratory supervisory experience
- Experience with laboratory regulations and/or CAP inspection
