Hemodialysis Technician - Full Time - Evenings - Trude Weishaupt Dialysis Center
The Hemodialysis Technician will provide safe and effective hemodialysis treatments to patients with ESRD. They will initiate, monitor, and discontinue hemodialysis treatments.
Responsibilities include:
- Following established protocol, initiate and discontinue hemodialysis treatments for patients with ESRD.
- Review and follows standing hemodialysis orders relating to dialyzer, dialysate bath, sodium modeling, access cannulation, length of treatment, dry weight, blood and dialysate flow rates.
- Assemble all dialysis equipment and prepare for use following unit procedures
- Checks all safety features on the equipment to insure proper functioning.
- Discontinue dialysis; remove access needles and establish hemostasis.
- Monitor patients during treatments.
This position will work evening shifts from 2:00pm to 12:00am, four days per week, with every other Saturday required, based on a 37.5‑hour work week. The role is located at the Trude Weishaupt Dialysis Center, an outpatient facility at 59-28 174th St, Fresh Meadows, NY 11365.
Preferred Criteria
Minimum two years of experience
Should have some patient care experience/exposure, e.g. Nursing Assistant or a working knowledge of policies, procedures and techniques used in a dialysis unit and the needs of the hemodialysis patient gained through a completion of a hemodialysis training course.
Certified in Medigases by NYFD
Required Criteria
High School Diploma or GED
CCHT, CHT, or CBNT certification in Hemodialysis required within 18 months of employment as per CMs regulations. Failure to obtain and maintain certification will be cause for dismissal.
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from American Heart Association

Please note that all roles require on-site presence (variable by role). Therefore, all employees should live within a commutable distance to NYP.
