Join the growing team of advanced practice providers who are transforming peri-operative care through risk stratification and targeted mitigation grounded in strong clinical acumen and foresight. The Anesthesia Perioperative Evaluation and Exam Clinic (APEX) performs a prospective review of all patients that are scheduled for elective procedures requiring the administration of anesthesia.
The APEX clinic is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Physician Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the safety and readiness of patients scheduled for procedures requiring anesthesia. Your primary responsibility will be to review patient charts thoroughly, facilitating the optimization of patients before surgery to prevent same-day cancellations and enhance overall patient safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive reviews of patient charts for scheduled procedures.
Communicate effectively with anesthesiologists and the surgical team to coordinate patient care.
Ensure all necessary tests and specialty consultations are completed and available prior to surgery.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals to optimize patient readiness for anesthesia and surgery.
Physician Assistants are integral to the efforts of this multi-disciplinary team. This position is on-site at the NYP/Columbia APEX clinic, requiring coverage Monday-Friday, 8a-4p; no nights, weekends or holidays.
Preferred Criteria
Surgical experience
Internal medicine experience
Minimum 1 year of clinical experience
Required Criteria
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Physician Assistant studies
NYS licensure
NCCPA certification
