We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our team, specializing in orthopedic rehabilitation and working closely with our Orthopedic Surgeons. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping patients recover from conditions affecting the entire arm, including the hands, and restoring optimal function and mobility.

In this role, the Occupational Therapist will evaluate, plan and provide treatment programs for patients whose injury, disease, or loss of body part interferes with daily functioning. Provide skilled intervention using a variety of techniques that are appropriate to achieving the identified goals. Work with a dynamic, experienced staff, caring for a diverse population.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients with arm-related conditions to assess functional limitations and develop personalized treatment plans.
  • Collaborate closely with the Orthopedic Surgeon to optimize pre-operative and post-operative care for patients undergoing arm-related surgeries.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with patients, caregivers, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Demonstrates competency in clinical skills consistent with the level of education, training, and experience.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions, including exercises, manual therapy, and modalities, to improve strength, range of motion, and functional independence.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on proper techniques for self-care, adaptive strategies, and home exercise programs to promote recovery and prevent re-injury.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes in accordance with regulatory standards.

This is a part-time position for the day shift, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, with weekend rotating schedules for inpatient rehab.

Preferred Criteria

  • Master’s or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy.
  • National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) Certification.
  • AOTA Membership.

Required Criteria

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Certified Hand Therapist (CHT)
  • New York State Occupational Therapy License - must be obtained within one year of hire.
  • Limited Permit as per New York State Act for Occupational Therapists.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience with management of post-surgical Upper Limb Conditions.
