Manager Healthcare Technology Logistics

Position Summary

Responsible for management of our Equipment Centers that operate 24/7 and regional trucking division to effectively manage the cleaning and distribution of medical equipment and specialty service carts at our Columbia University Irving Medical Center, including the Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital, and Allen Hospital. Determines and maintains appropriate staffing levels, monitors inventories of medical equipment, maintains the efficient operations of storage areas and medical equipment processing centers, and builds strong end user relationships and workflows.

Essential  Job Duties

  • Manages the activities of the personnel engaged in healthcare technology management logistics operations. Oversees scheduling to ensure effective utilization of personnel.
  • Responsible for service level optimization; implements appropriate quality controls programs and conducts follow-up to ensure effectiveness of services and operations.
  • Maintains safety standards to ensure maximum protection for patients, visitors, and employees. Makes appropriate recommendations to facilitate or improve administrative systems and operations.
  • Maintains technologies relevant to Healthcare Technology Management activities, such as RFID, receiving systems, inventory systems, or charge capture systems.
  • Monitors monthly expenditures and project trends in maintaining operating budget targets.
  • Verifies and employs best in class cost-effective techniques and practices for means of materials and/or equipment transport.
  • Designs, recommends, and implements policies and procedures for the department. Interprets department and Hospital policies and procedures as necessary.
  • Provides ongoing knowledge/education to staff, updating them on current trends and techniques.
  • Maintains effective communication with Hospital personnel, department heads, and outside agencies to ensure effective operations. Attends meetings, participates on committees and task forces, and represents department on job related matters.
  • Performs all duties inherent to managerial role. Participates in hiring, training, evaluation and termination of assigned staff according to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Performs other special projects and duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of management experience in a unionized environment
  • Knowledge of logistics and distribution center operations management
  • Microsoft Office and other relevant computer skills
  • Proficient written and basic mathematical ability with attention to detail
  • Effective communication skills demonstrated through courteous and cooperative relations with hospital staff, patients, visitors, and the public
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to appropriately and positively interact with patients, visitors, and staff from diversified backgrounds

Salary Range:

$85,000-$125,000/Annual
