The Manager of Capacity Management is responsible for ensuring capacity is optimized amongst the three campuses with a focus on key areas such as the Emergency Department, PACU, ICU’s, and outside hospital transfers. The three campuses are Columbia University Irving Medical Center, Allen Hospital, and Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital. The Manager will oversee Patient Flow Supervisors, as Patient Flow Specialists, and Clinical Program Coordinators. The Manager will focus on team development and patient flow metrics.
The Manager will act as a liaison between different departments, such as nursing, administration, and medical staff, to facilitate smooth operations, identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies in patient flow and implementing strategies to enhance these processes. Monitor patient flow metrics and analyzing data to forecast demand and adjust staffing or resources accordingly. The Manager will ensure that the patient's experience is not compromised in the process, responding and navigating to unexpected situations or surges in patient numbers and coordinating resources to manage these effectively.
Responsible for team development and management of Patient Flow Supervisors.
Patient Flow Specialists, and Clinical Program Coordinators.
Ensures policies and procedures, consistent with NYPH standards are being followed.
Maintains Departmental policies, revises and retires policies with approval of the Director of Capacity Management.
Oversees the development of Patient Flow Supervisors.
Administers personnel policies in the employment, promotion and termination and performance evaluation of staff, in conjunction with the Director of Capacity Management.
Implement Work Improvement Plans as needed Maintains staff compliance with annual hospital training Supports team engagement.
Leads Monthly team meetings with Patient Flow Specialists, Clinical Program Coordinators, and Patient Flow Supervisors.
Oversees and arranges team’s educational opportunities, in-services.
Provides mentorship, and serves as a role models through appropriate methods of communication.
Creates a supportive, collegial environment to maintain a positive working environment with staff and support areas.
Maintains daily staffing, balances vacation requests.
Required Criteria
Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing
Masters in Sciences or related field if already holds a BA/BS
Current NYS PA, NP or RN License
Minimum of five years of Leadership/Managerial experience
Demonstrated leadership and effective communication skills
Demonstrated strong organizational and prioritization skills
Participation in hospital wide initiatives and/or protocols
Preferred Criteria
Critical care experience
Excellent organizational, interpersonal skills, communication, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work collaboratively across various departments within the healthcare setting

Salary Range:
