NYP CHALK (Choosing Healthy & Active Lifestyles for Kids) is a portfolio of programs in the Division of Community and Population Health that aim to increase access to healthy lifestyles for children and their families. We work in close collaboration with community-based organizations, emergency food providers, public schools, early childhood centers, and NYP healthcare teams. Throughout, our goal is to improve the policies, systems, and environments that shape our lives.

Community Nutrition Program Manager – CHALK Program – Columbia – Grant-funded

The Community Nutrition Program Manager will support the CHALK team and Program Director across CHALK’s programs as a subject matter expert on community nutrition, with a focus on early childhood. CHALK’s programs include: Food FARMacy provides free, healthy groceries by home delivery to patients experiencing food insecurity. Youth Market is a paid opportunity for youth 16-22 years old to join our team for 6 weeks in the summer, running farm stands and supporting community health programs in their neighborhoods. My Block partners with community-based organizations to improve or activate the built environment, creating safe, joyful places to move, play, and connect. CHALK Jr supports early childhood centers with nutrition education, food insecurity screening, and physical activity interventions. The Community Nutrition Program Manager role includes providing direct programming (nutrition education at early childhood centers, for example) and attend community events (occasionally on evenings or weekends).

The Community Nutrition Program Manager identifies opportunities and develops strong working relationships with leadership and community-based organizations, supervises and coordinates program staff, provides day-to-day budget oversight, and ensures timely and accurate reporting on program deliverables. They will provide mentorship and professional development support to CHALK’s four Program Coordinators. The Community Nutrition Program Manager will also be a thought partner to CHALK’s Program Director, Program Leads, and Project Leaders, contributing to strategy conversations and fostering cross-program collaboration.

Preferred Criteria

  • Registered Dietitian (RD)
  • Management experience supporting diverse teams
  • Strong understanding of structural racism and social determinants/drivers of health
  • Familiarity with one or more of NYP’s Community Service Plan priority neighborhoods: MountVernon, Peekskill, Washington Heights, Lower East Side, Chinatown, Corona, and Crown Heights
  • Spanish bilingual

Required Criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience, 2+ years in a supervisory capacity
  • Experience in program development, implementation, and evaluation
  • Experience working in a community setting
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills and a high degree of flexibility
  • Ability to function independently and with minimal supervision

Salary Range:

$74,000-$111,000/Annual
