Reach your potential as a chaplain in the Spiritual Care and Chaplaincy Department at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center and NewYork-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital.

We are seeking a skilled, compassionate Chaplain to support patients facing life-altering conditions, families making difficult decisions, and staff trying to draw on their resilience. You would become an integrated member of the interdisciplinary team. You would educate our healthcare team on culturally humble and evidence-based spiritual care. You would lead support groups, give lectures/workshops, and participate in the continuous improvement of our department and our field. You would lead services in our chapels and provide liturgy in our patient-care areas. You would become a member of our chaplaincy team, giving and receiving moral and practical support with your fellow chaplains. You would model professional chaplaincy to chaplain students. And you would embody compassion for all people, whoever they are, whatever they believe or don’t believe, and whenever they need your care.

Join a dedicated clinical team of professional chaplains and support an extensive ACPE Clinical Pastoral Education program that includes interns, residents, Certified Educator Candidates, and Certified Educators. Serve patients from around the globe at a prestigious quaternary hospital, while also serving patients from the immediate community at a neighborhood hospital; NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital is both. This position is rotating shifts—Days, Evenings and Nights

Preferred Criteria:

• Certification by the Association of Professional Chaplains’ Board of Chaplaincy Certification, Inc., the National Association of Catholic Chaplains, Neshama: the Association of Jewish Chaplains, the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care, and/or the ACPE: The Standard for Spiritual Care & Education—including four units of ACPE Clinical Pastoral Education, a Master’s degree in theology, psychology, or philosophy (or equivalent), and recognized faith-/spiritual-group endorsement (or equivalent)
• Proficiency in Spanish and/or other languages frequently preferred by our care recipients
• Current faculties to administer sacraments in the Archdiocese of New York

Required Criteria:

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent)
• One unit of ACPE Clinical Pastoral Education
