Vice President Operations Brooklyn

Position Summary

Plans, coordinates, and directs the administration of Cardiac Services, including the Cathlab and EP, Radiology Services, Faculty Practices, Patient Transport, Environmental Services, and Food & Nutrition Services.  Works closely with corporate departments including Laboratory Services, Emergency Management and Security to support strong campus operations.

Ensures effective and efficient operations, in accordance with the Hospital’s mission, vision and values and all regulatory requirements. Functions as an administrative liaison to the clinical departments and serves as a member of the Hospital’s senior management team.

Essential Job Duties

-Develops goals, objectives and key performance metrics for assigned departments to ensure they are consistent with the overall plans for the institution and that they promote cohesive, integrated, safe and efficient functioning of the hospital. 

-Directs the preparation of the division’s operating budget, focusing on enhancing service, improving quality, reducing operating costs and driving value

-Manages division activities to achieve key operational, revenue cycle, expense management and quality performance metrics  

-Assists department heads/directors in directing work activities, establishing system control procedures, implementing hospital-wide policies / administrative directives and managing staff performance

-Reviews and approves departmental operating, administrative and personnel policies and procedures and oversees implementation and compliance

-Prepares the capital priority list for COO capital allocations

-Reviews and approves operating and divisional capital expenditures

-Reviews and approves personnel actions such as hiring, termination, and disciplinary actions. -Investigates and mediates employee relations concerns

-Establishes and maintains effective communication within the division

-Plans, directs and coordinates construction and capital projects and monitors project progress against accepted timetables. Coordinates relocations as necessary

-Nature of job involves the ability to sustain interruption in workflow and instantaneous changes in priorities to respond to crisis situations involving patients, plant, procedures, or inspections

-Establishes and maintains liaison with hospital and medical college department heads, division heads, administrators, clinical chiefs and members of the medical faculty to foster and maintain effective and productive working relationships

-Manages contracts and leases as appropriate and necessary

-Performs other special projects and duties as assigned

Education

-Bachelor's degree - Required

-Master's degree - Preferred

Work Experience

-Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive related experience in an academic medical center

-Established experience in managing and improving process, building budgets, managing conflict, developing people, promoting collaboration and fostering open communication 

-Demonstrated ability to integrate critical information, analyze issues and manage change

-Extensive theoretical and practical knowledge of value-based health care, hospital operations, revenue cycle, Joint Commission and other regulatory standards, graduate medical education and medical college priorities.

Please note that all roles require on-site presence (variable by role). Therefore, all employees should live within a commutable distance to NYP.

$325,000-$375,000/Annual
