Now, we're seeking a highly skilled Technologist to be an integral part of our team. Under the supervision of the Neurophysiology management team, performs connections using collodion (adhesive) for all the Continuous Electroencephalogram (CEEG) and Epilepsy Monitoring unit phase I studies (EMU) and conducts long-term monitoring of EEG signals with scalp (CEEG) and EMU phase II studies with depth and cortical electrodes. As well as performing and setting up connections for intraoperative studies (ICM and sEEG) for all age groups, including neonates. Conducts long-term and real-time monitoring of EEG signals with scalp, depth, or cortical electrodes on inpatient floors and surgical/interventional suites as directed. May also perform Ambulatory Electroencephalogram (AEEG), routine inpatient and outpatient Electroencephalograph (REEG), and Polysomnogram (Sleep) as well as related Clinical Neurophysiology recordings in assigned Clinical areas as directed. Must possess advanced knowledge of electroencephalogram patterns, abnormalities, seizure patterns, cEEG artifacts, and troubleshooting skills.
Understanding and executing complex data management skills for medical record retention and storage server maintenance. Assist in teaching and training EEG technologist I. They perform all these studies, ensuring patient safety and comfort during procedures, and serve as a resource to physicians and other technologists. This role works in a variety of patient setting including inpatient, outpatient, and intraoperative settings. This is a technical position with no supervisory responsibilities.
Our Epilepsy Center provides a multidisciplinary approach to the complex medical and social needs of patients with seizures. It is certified by the NYDOH to carry out long-term video-EEG monitoring and Epilepsy surgery for patients with intractable epilepsy.An opportunity to see a full range of complex cases in adults and pediatrics at a prestigious academic hospital.
This position is full-time, shift: Tuesday to Saturday rotating 1p-9p and 3p-11p with at least 5+ rotating holidays
Preferred Criteria
Ability to work in all inpatient care settings (general, ICU, and emergency departments).
Proficient in data management including pruning, merging and medical records protocols preferred.
Rotating holidays at least 5+ yearly.
Required Criteria
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Associate degree or graduation from an accredited Electroneurodiagnostic technology training program (Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) Accredited) OR graduation from an American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET) approved Electroneurodiagnostic (END) training program.
BLS Certification
American Board of Registered Electroneurodiagnostic Technologists (ABRET) registry eligible
Minimum of5+ yearsof EEG technician experience post internship and demonstrated ability to meet department competencies.
Must possess an advanced knowledge of normal and abnormal EEG patterns and a working knowledge of abnormalities in diagnostic EEG and Epilepsy monitoring studies.
Knowledge of applicable computer operating systems and software (MS Office and Natus XLTEK).
Perform these studies on patients of all age groups, including neonates (Collodion).
