Under the guidance of the pharmacy managers and the director of pharmacy, a pharmacist supervisor:
- Assists in the provision of operational planning and direction of pharmacy personnel in accordance with hospital policy and procedures.
- Maintains supervisory responsibilities for pharmacy areas.
- Ensures safety, appropriateness, and accountability of medication management.
Provides in-service education and/or orientation for health professionals. Meets with the medical staff regularly to review the pharmaceutical care for patients on assigned service, as well as attends and participates in meetings held on patient care units as appropriate. Routinely visits patient care areas, reviews medical records, physician orders, medication records, and inspects storage areas. Reviews quality improvement information with nurse managers or department heads and recommends changes. Oversees and participates in the maintenance and storage of pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical inventory in his/her area of responsibility. Ensures electronic inventory records are accurate and complete, including but not limited to routine cycle counts, transfers, invoices, & negative balances. Assures stock is rotated and expiration dates are checked. Obtains out-of-stock or not typically stocked items from authorized sources according to established procedures. Ensures all pharmaceutical quality control measures are followed. Participates in training, orientation, and competency activities of staff. Provides feedback to staff members concerning performance goals or issues. Escalates staff performance issues to pharmacy management and provides input on possible.

Preferred Criteria:
- Advanced Degree or training
- 3+ years of post-graduate practice experience
Required Criteria:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy or PharmD
- Degree from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy
- Currently licensed as a New York State Pharmacist
- Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal

Salary Range:
