Summer 2026 Graduate Internship Program – People Operations and Strategy
During Summer 2026, NewYork-Presbyterian will offer a 10-week paid internship opportunity for qualified graduate students from leading university programs. This internship is ideal for candidates passionate about reimagining people operations in a complex, mission-driven academic medical center.
Interns will work closely with HR leadership and contribute to projects that advance our strategic priorities. This internship provides hands-on experience at the intersection of strategy, technology, and impact, shaping the future of work at scale.
About the Role
The intern’s summer project will focus onwork optimization across the broader workforce, identifying opportunitiestoenhance the workplace experience as well as simplify processes and workflows, while reducingunnecessary complexity.This includes exploringinnovative, technology-enabled approaches to improve efficiency, clarity, and employee experience at scale.
Key Skills & Capabilities
- Innovation & AI Fluency: Interest in using technology, automation, and AI to streamline processes and create scalable, people-centric solutions.
- Project Management & Execution: Ability to manage multiple workstreams, meet deadlines, and drive initiatives from concept to delivery.
- Design & Storytelling: Graphic design and visual communication skills to translate complex ideas into clear, compelling narratives.
- Analytical & Strategic Thinking: Ability to synthesize data, identify patterns, and contribute to workforce planning and operational improvement.
- Change-Oriented Mindset: Comfortable with ambiguity, curious, and energized by building new ways of working in a large, evolving organization.
- Collaboration & Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to partner effectively across clinical, academic, and administrative teams.
Internship Program Components
- Assigned mentor from NYP’s Emerging Leadership Council
- One-on-one career information meetings with senior leaders
- Final presentation to senior leadership highlighting summer contributions
- Networking events with other emerging leaders
Program Details
- Dates: June 1 – August 7, 2026
- Location: On-site in New York, NY
- Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday
- Note: NYP does not offer relocation stipends for interns.
Preferred Criteria
- MHA, MPH, MBA, or HR-related graduate program candidates
- Experience in HR, organizational development, or process improvement
Required Criteria
- Completion of first year of a graduate program by internship start
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills

Please note that all roles require on-site presence (variable by role). Therefore, all employees should live within a commutable distance to NYP.
