Social Worker- Part Time - Outpatient Burn Service Adult and Peds - Weill Cornell Days

3 Days/week Monday, Tuesday and Thursday

The Burn Service provides services to Adults and pediatric patients.  The program has received verification from the American Burn Association (ABA) which requires a social worker in the outpatient setting.

The Social Worker in the outpatient Burn Center is an integral member of the team and is contiguous with the inpatient burn service.  
The social worker participates in weekly multi-disciplinary rounds, burn conferences and  specialty education to assist in providing care and support to the patients.  

The social worker provides education and support to patients and families for symptoms related to Acute Stress Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Anxiety, Depression and Isolation. The Social worker assess for readiness to return to work (Emotional, Psychological, Physical) which may include how to manage and cope with sharing their burn injury story with colleagues.  

Additionally, the social worker will assess for Desire for Peer Support – (SOAR – Survivors Offering Assistance in Recovery and Monthly Burn Support Group), Socialization and the need for advocacy in working with the NYS Workers Compensation Board, Workers Compensation Insurance Company, and Employers.  The burn clinic provides services to adults and pediatric patients and the social work needs have increased given the concerns about social determinants, mental health and financial assistance to our patients.

Preferred Criteria

  • Outpatient experience in an acute care setting

Required Criteria

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW)

  • New York State License as a Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW)

Salary Range:

$82,500-$105,000/Annual
