Senior Physical Therapist – Acute care Burn/ Surgical Units - Days - Cornell Campus

In addition to the duties and responsibilities of an acute care physical therapist, the Senior Physical Therapist serves as a clinical resource and mentor to staff, assists in staff orientation, identifies and develops clinically oriented as well as service excellence initiatives. 

The successful candidate must have knowledge of a variety of surgical protocols in the acute care setting. They must demonstrate advanced clinical skills and knowledge in the assessment and treatment of orthopedic trauma and burn patients in acute care and ICU settings.  Experience treating patients in the ICU including early mobilization is a plus.  Strong problem solving skills and ability to work in a fast paced acute care setting is necessary.

This is a Monday-Friday 8:30a- 4:30p position, with an intermittent weekend and holiday requirement.

Preferred Criteria

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a physical therapist
  • Experience working in the acute care and ICU settings with well- rounded experience in areas such as burns, ortho/trauma and other surgical protocols.   
  • Excellent communication and teaching skills
  • Exemplary professionalism, teamwork and flexibility

Required Criteria

  • 3 years of experience as a practicing physical therapist
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy
  • Requires knowledge of providing direct patient care to pediatric, young adult, adult, geriatric patients
  • New York State Physical Therapy License
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification

Please note that all roles require on-site presence (variable by role). Therefore, all employees should live within a commutable distance to NYP.

NYP will not reimburse for travel expenses.

Salary Range:

$127,100-$149,000/Annual
