Senior Patient Registrar – Emergency Department - Night Flex

The Senior Patient Registrar, in addition to registering, scheduling, and obtaining pre-certification and authorization for patients, assumes some responsibility for the work direction and training of Patient Registrars in accordance with established guidelines. As a Senior Patient Registrar, provides work direction, schedules work, conducts on-the-job training, and answers job-related questions. Assists in preparing performance evaluations; may recommend personnel actions for assigned staff. Greets and registers patients in a tactful and courteous manner. Obtains all pertinent patient demographic and insurance information and enters into the appropriate computer system. Pre-registers patients in the hospital's line system. Obtains hospital medical record number when necessary. Performs insurance verification checks for Medicare, Medicaid, and/or Blue Cross in the hospital billing system. Performs other insurance verification functions as required. Schedules and maintains daily appointment schedules, taking into consideration the availability of resources. Sets up clinic for efficient management of appointment flow (e.g., Medical Records retrieved, chart set-ups prepared).

This is a full-time day position located at NYP/Weill Cornell Medical Center.

Required Criteria:

  • High School diploma or GED

  • Three years of clerical experience

  • Effective communication skills

Please note that all roles require on-site presence (variable by role). Therefore, all employees should live within a commutable distance to NYP.

NYP will not reimburse for travel expenses.

$33.65-$42.65/Hourly
