We are seeking a dynamic Program Director for Resilience and Business Continuity to lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of a comprehensive set of Enterprise-wide capabilities ranging from crisis management and business continuity to the integration of and collaboration with information technology resilience and recovery, emergency management, business interruption insurance considerations and enterprise risk management.  The focus will be on protecting our patients, our employees and the assets and reputation of our business.   These capabilities will be focused on critical business functions and services, supported by a well-structured, executive-level crisis management team, overseeing clinical and operational resilience, and supporting technological capabilities.  

Program Director Resilience and Business Continuity

This role will serve as a strategic partner to executive leadership. In addition, this role will partner with clinical operations, IT, and emergency preparedness teams to ensure the health system is prepared, responsive, and adaptable to both anticipated and unforeseen challenges. The position requires strong leadership, influencing abilities, and a work ethic committed to measurable outcomes based on capabilities.  The role must also be masterful at coordinating diverse business units to ensure recovery objectives are achievable. Superior listening and communication skills, the ability to work well with business units, and reasonable technical ability are all expected. The Program Director will work in tandem with business units to include risk and business impact analysis, recovery strategies, plans/playbooks, training, and testing/exercising, all to set up and maintain an overall resilience capability supported by a culture that provides the Board and executive level support to implement a successful capability.

Essential Job Duties 

  • Develop and oversee the organization’s resilience and business continuity program in alignment with healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and organizational goals.
  • Establish governance structures, policies, and procedures to ensure readiness and compliance across clinical, administrative, and technology domains.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to integrate resilience strategies into enterprise risk management.
  • Partner in the design, maintenance, and testing of Business Continuity Plans (BCPs), Disaster Recovery Plans (DRPs), and Crisis Management frameworks.
  • Partner with IT leadership to ensure cyber resilience, including downtime procedures, data recovery, and technology continuity.
  • Ensure alignment with Joint Commission, CMS, FEMA, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Partner in the development and delivery of training and awareness programs to build organizational resilience capacity.
  • Participate in systemwide simulation exercises, tabletop drills, and after-action reviews, ensuring continuous improvement.
  • Coach and mentor leaders and staff on resilience practices, crisis leadership, and continuity planning.
  • Serve as a key leader during organizational crises, coordinating cross-functional response efforts.
  • Provide guidance and decision-making support to sustain recovery and continuity in patient care and essential services.
  • Monitor recovery efforts, track performance, and implement lessons learned to strengthen future preparedness.
  • Build strong partnerships with external agencies.
  • Engage with internal stakeholders across clinical, operational, and IT teams to embed resilience principles into daily operations.
  • Performs other special projects and duties as assigned.

Preferred Criteria

  • Master’s degree
  • Certification in Business Continuity Management (CBCP, CHPCP, CCRP) or related certification

Required Criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Risk Management, Emergency Management, or related field required
  • 5-7+ years of progressive experience in business continuity, healthcare resilience, emergency management, or risk management.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare regulatory standards (Joint Commission, CMS, HIPAA, HHS, FEMA).
  • Proven experience leading crisis response and recovery efforts in a complex healthcare environment.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders across all clinical and administrative levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead under pressure in high-stakes, matrixed environments.
  • Understanding of healthcare delivery systems, IT resilience, and operational dependencies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and mitigate risks and develop effective contingency plans.

$130,000-$150,000/Annual
