Per Diem Patient Registrar – Radiology – Days – Weill Cornell
The Patient Register is responsible for registering, scheduling, and obtaining pre-certification and authorization for patients to ensure payment from a third-party payer. They greet and register patients in a tactful and courteous manner, and obtain all pertinent patient demographic and insurance information and enters into appropriate computer system. In addition, they’ll record patient history, pre-register patients in the hospitals online system, schedule and maintain daily appointments, interface with referring offices/departments, while preparing all pertinent paperwork and notifying patients of any financial obligations. Once the registrar demonstrates proficiency in the role, they may be assigned to train new team members to enhance coverage. Most importantly, you will be the calm and reassuring presence patients need as they navigate their hospital experience.
This role is a per diem day flex shift position working as needed in the Radiology department at our Weill Cornell location. Shifts are 8 hours ranging between 6:00am-5:00pm. Includes rotating holiday coverage.
Preferred Criteria
Some college
Energetic, approachable individual with a desire to put patients first.
Knowledge of health insurance benefits/requirements
Knowledge of Coding: ICD 9, CPT-4
Required Criteria
High School Diploma or GED
One year of clerical experience
Effective communication, along with phone and computer skills
