Clinical Pharmacy Manager - Specialty and Outpatient Pharmacy

The Clinical Pharmacy Manager is responsible for overseeing the Enterprise Specialty Pharmacy services across the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital campuses. This role ensures integration and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams within the health system and plays a key leadership role in identifying and advancing growth opportunities. The manager will engage regularly with internal and external stakeholders, including healthcare providers, payers, and vendors, to ensure optimal program performance and strategic alignment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a strategic partner in the development and expansion of the Enterprise Specialty Pharmacy program across the health system.
- Identify and lead initiatives that support growth and improve operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to foster strong partnerships and align with business objectives.
- Demonstrate deep expertise in complex disease states and anticipate future trends to drive program innovation.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of regulatory standards and payer requirements, including accreditation, state and federal guidelines, and drug pipeline developments.
- Deliver effective presentations and communications to influence and drive key initiatives.
- Monitor workflows, identify areas for improvement, and implement necessary changes to optimize performance.
- Respond to provider and clinic inquiries to ensure high-quality pharmacy support and patient care.
- Ensure compliance with documentation, billing, and claims processes in outpatient pharmacy settings.
- Lead, participate in, and support special projects or strategic initiatives.
- Develop and implement new standard operating procedures based on cross-functional input and data analysis.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) from an ACPE-accredited program.
- Licensed as a Pharmacist in New York State or eligible for licensure within 3 months.
- Minimum of 2 years of pharmacy experience, including familiarity with pharmacy operations, software systems, and insurance processes.
- Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time for business purposes.
- Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Experience delivering presentations to diverse audiences within a healthcare organization.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in a healthcare-related field (e.g., MBA, MHA, MPH)
- Completion of a general or specialty residency and/or fellowship.
- Certified Specialty Pharmacist (CSP) or other board certification (e.g., BCPS).
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in at least three of the following complex disease states:
- Oncology, Infectious Disease, Neurology, Chronic Inflammatory Diseases, Transplant, Pulmonary, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology.
- At least 2 years of management or supervisory experience.
- Experience working in a health system setting with business-to-business interactions, including managed care, medical offices, or provider groups.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, drive initiatives with minimal direction, and escalate appropriately when needed.

Salary Range:
