Neurosurgery Technical Support – Operating Room - Days

The reliance on conventional and advanced technical platforms in neurosurgery has outgrown the capability of this role being assumed by clinical nursing. Existing platforms that are heavily dependent on informational processing, engineering and mechanics, device design, and industry-defined standard operating procedures warrants a focused technical role. Relationships and dependency on industry specialists also demands a continuous dialogue and access portal to ensure uninterrupted workflows.  Under general supervision of Perioperative Services, the Neurosurgery Technical Support coordinates and facilitates the technical interfaces for neurosurgery.

This role provides a technical link between the surgeon, the OR nursing staff, Central Sterile Processing (CSPD), biomedical engineering, informational technology (IT), and equipment. Increase surgical volume capacity and ensure patient safety by improving on-time performance, shortening case duration, reducing turnover time, decreasing processing time, and facilitating the recognition and remediation of equipment issues.

This is a full time day position working Monday-Friday 6:00am-2:30p at NYP/Weill Cornell Medical Center

Preferred Criteria

• Bachelor’s Degree 

• “Biomed” certification

• Certification as a Surgical Technologist by the Association of Surgical Technologist or Surgical Technician by the National Board of Surgical Technician and Surgical Assisting

Required Criteria

• Associate Degree

• Previous Operating Room, Biomedical, and/or supply experience

• Knowledge of various types of O.R. equipment systems

• Knowledge and set up of neuro/spine equipment

• Knowledge/experience in Microsoft Word and Excel computer programs
