Microbiology Technical Specialist – Central Labs – Full Time

In this role, you will be challenged, engaged and trusted as a leader on our Clinical Microbiology team with responsibilities including administration, planning and development of new techniques, assays and methods, technical guidance, staff training and the development of new and more complicated procedures. 

Channel your project management skills and take on this pivotal position by working closely with laboratory leadership to coordinate a wide variety of technical activities to ensure efficient operation.  The Technical Specialist will also perform qualitative and quantitative tests using various methods, procedures and instruments, maintain and calibrates equipment as needed.  They will also oversee QC and QA programs and report results per established protocol.  Utilize your data-driven mindset to generate various reports in order to detect pending specimens, errors, trends and other exceptions as appropriate.

This is a full-time position working Monday – Friday from 9A – 5P, with rotating weekend responsibility. 

Preferred Criteria

• Current ASCP certification
• Possess strong knowledge and previous experience with maintaining regulatory requirements
• Advanced courses in Microbiology
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Required Criteria

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related science
• Six years’ experience in specialized Microbiology testing
• New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist licensure from the New York Education department
• Cognitive ability to develop and troubleshoot sophisticated analytical procedures
• Excellent technical skills including product development and training skills
