Our full-service Molecular Pathology and Cytogenetics laboratories offer the latest techniques such as FISH and microarray testing, in addition to Viral Load testing, performs test in the following categories: Genetics, Chimerism, and Oncology. Take on this critical leadership position within our laboratories to ensure effective processing and analysis of specimens, and reporting of associated results, to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of patients, following all Regulatory requirements and Hospital policies and Safety procedures. In this role, you will coordinate a wide variety of administrative, fiscal, personnel and technical activities to ensure efficient and cutting edge operations.
Take the next step in your career and lead the team as our Laboratory Manager. Utilizing your regulatory expertise, you will coordinate and prepare for site visits by accrediting/regulatory agencies. Channel your interpersonal skills through managing and overseeing laboratory personnel to ensure effective operations. Furthermore, you will provide work direction, assign work, answer job related questions, orient new personnel, and oversee on-the-job training, and education of interns, residents, and fellows. Manage your team through the completion of performance evaluations and take appropriate personnel actions to ensure adequate staff coverage. Leverage your QA/QC skillset through designing and implementing appropriate quality control programs and conduct follow-up to ensure effectiveness of clinical laboratory activities. Drawing upon your budgetary expertise, you will prepare the annual department operating and capital budget for approval, monitor and reconcile expenditure of funds, compile information related to laboratory operations and prepare regular narrative and statistical reports to submit to the Medical Director or appropriate others.
This is a full-time position working Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:00pm, plus rotating on call responsibility.
Preferred Criteria
- Master’s Degree
- Advanced clinical experience within Cytogenetics + Molecular Pathology
- Supervisory/Managerial experience in a clinical laboratory
- ASCP certification
Required Criteria
- Bachelor’s Degree
- American Society for Clinical Pathology Certification (ASCP) or equivalent
- New York State Department of Education Clinical Laboratory Technologist License
- Meets all requirements of the New York State Department of Health for a Laboratory Supervisor
- Minimum of 4 years’ progressive clinical laboratory experience or 2 years of experience with a Master’s degree or 1 year of experience with a Ph.D.
- Experience with regulatory aspects of practice
- Knowledge of Molecular Testing Methods
