Information Technology Engineer III-Pharmacy
The Pharmacy IT Analyst serves as a critical front-line resource supporting pharmacy information systems and technology across the enterprise. This role combines strong technical expertise with clinical knowledge to optimize medication-use systems, enhance patient safety, and improve operational efficiency.
Working as part of a high-performing Pharmacy Informatics and Information Systems team, the Analyst supports the full lifecycle of pharmacy applications—including design, implementation, testing, maintenance, integration, and optimization—to meet evolving business and patient care needs.
As pharmacy technology continues to expand across hospital and regional sites, this role is essential to standardizing systems, supporting automation, and enabling enterprise-wide initiatives. The Pharmacy IT Analyst also plays a key role in education and training, ensuring end users are equipped to effectively utilize pharmacy technologies and workflows.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for pharmacy IT needs, including troubleshooting, issue resolution, and user support
- Support day-to-day operations of pharmacy systems such as Omnicell, Swisslog (including Alegro), and related applications
- Monitor system performance, identify issues, and implement solutions to ensure uninterrupted operations
- Provide end-user support in a 24/7 healthcare environment as needed
- Participate in enterprise-wide system upgrades, enhancements, and new implementations
- Support the full project lifecycle including requirements gathering, system design, build, testing, deployment, and post-go-live support
- Develop and execute test scripts, validation plans, and quality assurance processes
- Monitor and maintain pharmacy applications to ensure reliability, performance, and compliance
- Design, manage, and maintain pharmacy system configurations and databases
- Build, maintain, and troubleshoot interfaces between pharmacy and clinical applications
- Standardize medication builds, workflows, and system design across multiple sites
- Develop reports, dashboards, and metrics to support operational and clinical decision-making
- Develop and deliver training programs for pharmacists, technicians, and staff on pharmacy systems and workflows
- Create user documentation, job aids, and system guides to support adoption and compliance
- Provide ongoing education related to system upgrades, new functionality, and workflow changes
- Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for end users and interdisciplinary teams
- Act as a liaison between Pharmacy Operations and Information Systems teams
- Collaborate across departments to improve workflows, safety, and efficiency
- Contribute to system design standards, governance, and best practices
- Identify opportunities to leverage technology and automation to enhance pharmacy services
Preferred Criteria
- Degree or major in Computer Science
- SQL experience
- EHR experience
- Experience with clinical applications and clinical/hospital operations
Required Criteria
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- At least 5 to 7 years of previous work-related experience
