Diversion Investigator

The Diversion Investigator plays a critical role in safeguarding NewYork-Presbyterian’s people, assets, and organizational integrity by leading comprehensive, enterprise-wide investigations into insider threats and the diversion of NYP property and goods, including controlled substances regulated under the Controlled Substances Act (CSA) and applicable Code of Federal Regulations (CFR). This role drives complex investigative efforts through meticulous research, in-depth interviews, data analysis, and CCTV review, while working in close partnership with Human Resources, the Office of Legal Affairs, Security, Pharmacy, and a broad network of internal and external stakeholders. The Investigator synthesizes findings into clear, actionable insights, effectively communicating both investigative outcomes and proactive prevention strategies to leadership to strengthen enterprise risk mitigation and organizational resilience.

Preferred Criteria:

  • Diversion Investigation Certification, Credential, Qualification, or Equivalent.
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) with investigation, enforcement, and litigation, of violators of state and federal laws (e.g. property crimes, fraud, and both illicit and controlled substances.
  • Experience working Insider Threat (e.g. Internal Affairs) for government and/or private sector.
  • Strong familiarity with the legal frameworks established in the Controlled Substance Act (CSA) and the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR).
  • Strong knowledge of criminal procedure and rules of evidence.
  • Knowledge of registration, authorization, and reporting requirements for controlled substances across manufacturers, distributors, practitioners, pharmacies, and research settings.
  • SME knowledge of controlled substance scheduling, associated risk levels, likeliness of abuse, and regulatory oversight of controlled substances.
  • Knowledge of hospital systems (e.g. EPIC) and Automated Dispensing Cabinets (e.g. Omnicell).

Required Criteria:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 10+ years of experience conducting civil and law enforcement criminal investigations that include research, sworn statements, evidence collection and handling, chain of custody documentation, interviewing, and collaboration with federal and state law enforcement agencies / departments.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaborate across diverse partnerships.
  • Advanced analytical and communication skills in developing and presenting risk‑mitigation strategies to prevent diversion of NYP’s goods, services, and property.

Please note that all roles require on-site presence (variable by role). Therefore, all employees should live within a commutable distance to NYP.

$97,000-$145,000/Annual
