Creative Arts Therapist/ Pediatric Music Therapist – Days

Our accredited Creative Arts Therapists join forces with the Child Life Department, working alongside physicians, nurses, social workers, and clinical professionals to normalize the health care environment for young patients. Music therapists at Komansky Children’s Hospital support pediatric patients and families to alleviate anxiety and depression, decrease stress, improve coping, manage pain, and help patients and families process psychosocial and emotional difficulties related to medical illness, mental illness, trauma, and loss.

This is a full-time, Monday-Friday 9:00AM - 5:00PM day shift position.  Includes some weekend and holiday rotation

Preferred Criteria: 

  • One to three years of experience 
  • Previous professional experience working with children/families in a hospital setting

Required Criteria:

  • Master's degree in related field
  • Licensed Creative Arts Therapist (LCAT) by NYS Office of Professions
  • Registration as a Music Therapist – Board Certified (MT-BC) or Art Therapy Registration (ATR) or Certified Dance Therapist or Certified Drama Therapist
  • Proficient in modalities pertaining to specific Creative Arts Therapy discipline (ex. Guitar, various art mediums etc.)
  • Completion of a successful internship in specific Creative Arts Therapy discipline
