The Ophthalmology Practice offers a wide array of clinical services, ranging from simple eye examinations for vision correction to sophisticated diagnostics and treatments for virtually any eye condition.
Clinical Nurse I- RN - Ophthalmology Practice -Ambulatory Care Network/Columbia Campus
The Ophthalmology RN is an integral team member responsible for helping to deliver quality care to patients. Our dedicated nurses and staff work closely with our physicians to ensure our patients receive the best possible eye care. You will work collaboratively with the entire provider and professional team to meet the needs of the patient. Responsibilities
- Supports the mission, philosophy, standards, goals and objectives of the department and clinical service
- Serves as subject matter expert regarding clinical practice workflow
- Assist with clinical care including, Triage, visual acuity measurements, additional clinical evaluations as indicated, patient education, medication management and follow-up
- Educates patient and family to facilitate patient care
- Works collaboratively with the attending and resident physician team, to maintain timely and appropriate communication with family members, other disciplines, and ancillary services
- Uses evidence-based health care literature to advise and support appropriate practice changes within the designated service
This is full time, day shift position.
Preferred Criteria:
- Minimum of two years of Ambulatory, Med Surg or ED experience
- Experience in Ophthalmology outpatient /inpatient care
- Bilingual – English/Spanish
- Certification in Ambulatory Care
Required Criteria:
- Current New York State RN License
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing
- Current BLS through the AHA
- At least one-year acute care RN experience in medical/surgical or Emergency Department
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- Must be able to work effectively in a team-driven environment
