We're seeking an experienced Physician Assistant to join the surgical service line at NYP Cornell overseeing 70+ PAs.  The Chief Physician Assistant is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the following service lines:

  • Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) / Trauma
  • Burn ICU

  • General Surgery

  • Orthopedic surgery

  • Urology

  • Liver transplant

  • Ambulatory surgery  

  •  Interventional radiology

Under the direction of the PA Site Director, theChiefPhysician Assistant provides leadership and direction to assigned Physician Assistants (PAs) by providing standard policies and procedures, ensures credentialing guidelines are met, and promotes a positive, nurturing and stimulating work environment.

Responsible for all performance related reviews and metrics.  The Chief PA will also create and maintain the schedule, including managing overtime.Other responsibilities include the recruitment and hiring of staff, training of new and existing employees, and special projects as assigned.  

    This position is a 7.5-hour day shift position, 5 days a week (M-f).

    Preferred Criteria

    • Previous clinical supervisory experience​

    • 5+ years of experience as an in-patient physician assistant

    • Prior experience developing staff

    Required Criteria

    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Physician Assistant studies

    • Minimum 7 years of related previous experience as described above.

    • Current NYS licensure

    • DEA/BLS/ACLS certifications

    • NCCPA certification

    Please note that all roles require on-site presence (variable by role). Therefore, all employees should live within a commutable distance to NYP.

    NYP will not reimburse for travel expenses.

    Salary Range:

    $205,000-$217,000/Annual
