Anesthesia Support Services Supervisor- NYP/Weill Cornell Medical Center- Evenings

We are currently seeking an Anesthesia Support Services Supervisor to join our world-renowned team.

Under direction of the Anesthesiologist-in-Chief, supervises the Anesthesia tech unit overseeing technical staff, anesthesia budget, quality assurance, and equipment and supply inventory.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

· Responsible to interview, hire, plan training and discipline staff.

· Manages Anesthesia tech unit technicians including the senior technician, servicing all anesthesia sites.

· Sets policy and procedures for the anesthesia technicians.

· Gives direction to Senior Technician for assigning and monitoring of daily work for each area.

· Provides direction, conducts annual evaluations, and assists in development of departmental goals and objectives.

· Under the Director, responsible for annual budget including salary, equipment, and supplies.

· Manages purchasing, receiving, inventory and maintenance of anesthesia-related equipment and supplies.

· Acts as liaison with outside consultants and vendors.

· Negotiates special pricing, and creates cost reduction opportunities through purchasing.

· Works closely with Department of Anesthesia Director to assure necessary support through equipment, training and supplies.

· Responsible for JCAHO compliance for anesthesia equipment.

· Maintains knowledge of regulatory policies from municipal and state and federal agencies. Interprets written policies and makes recommendations for departmental compliance, for equipment, sterilization, certification, education and documentation.

· Leads project teams for site visit readiness.

· Designs and implements training programs for new equipment, special projects, procedural changes for quality assurance; based on input from vendors, departmental physicians and regulatory agencies.

· Designs and implements new practices and procedures to streamline OR/Anesthesia effectiveness.

· Assists in developing cost cutting strategies for both Perioperative services, and the anesthesia department.

· Liaison to faculty committees for development of departmental clinical goals, and updating policies and procedures.

· Provides input into quality assurance initiatives for the hospital department.

· Oversees all OR and Pain clinic renovations for anesthetic needs.

· Oversees maintenance and monitoring for anesthesia equipment.

· Liaison with Bio-Medical and Pharmacy departments to coordinate activities for joint operations and special projects.

· Maintains proficiency of Anesthesia documentation system to provide troubleshooting when needed.

· Performs all duties inherent to managerial role.

· Participates in hiring, training, evaluation and termination of assigned staff according to hospital policies and procedures

· Performs other special projects and duties as assigned.

Preferred Criteria:

College degree with Major in biomedical engineering

Minimum 5 years occupationally specific experience and training beyond school

Experience with budgets, purchasing and quality assurance

Required Criteria:

High School Diploma or GED

Certification by ASATT

Supervisory experience

BLS-C certification

$100,000-$120,000/Annual
