About the role
At NewYork‑Presbyterian (NYP), the Analytics Developer supports the development and delivery of enterprise analytics solutions that enable data-driven decision-making across the organization. This role develops dashboards, datasets, and analytics-ready data models while adhering to established standards for data quality, governance, and privacy. Working closely with data engineers, data scientists, project managers, and business stakeholders, the Analytics Developer helps deliver reliable and actionable data products.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop analytics-ready data models in Snowflake using established design patterns and standards.
- Create and maintain Power BI semantic models, datasets, dashboards, and reports.
- Document data lineage, ownership, and metric definitions in Alation or similar metadata management tools.
- Support requirements gathering, testing, and validation activities.
- Collaborate with data engineers, analytics developers, data scientists, and project managers.
- Implement dashboard enhancements and deliver well-defined analytics solutions with a focus on quality, accuracy, and documentation.
- Leverage AI-assisted tools and modern development environments to improve analytics delivery and productivity.
- Identify, investigate, and escalate data quality issues.
- Assist in building and maintaining data ingestion and ELT pipelines using Fivetran.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Data Science, Public Health, Statistics, Economics, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Biomedical Informatics, Health Policy, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
Experience
- 1+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or data engineering, preferably in healthcare, payer, or life sciences organizations.
- Experience with SQL and dimensional data modeling.
- Experience developing Power BI solutions, including DAX, Power Query (M), semantic models, Row-Level Security (RLS), and performance optimization.
Certification
- Epic Cogito Certification upon hire or within six (6) months of employment.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with Epic Clarity or other clinical, operational, or financial healthcare data systems.
- Familiarity with HL7 FHIR, ICD-10, CPT, and LOINC.
- Knowledge of HIPAA requirements and PHI/PII data handling.
- Experience with Snowflake, Azure, AWS, Git, and Azure DevOps.
- Experience with Alation or other data governance and metadata management platforms.
- Experience with Python or R for analytics and automation.
- Familiarity with statistical methods and experimental design.
- Experience using AI-powered tools to accelerate analysis, optimize analytical logic, and enhance stakeholder communications.
