Program Coordinator - Volunteer Services - NYP Brooklyn Methodist
Reporting to the Manager of Volunteer Services, the Program Coordinator is responsible for identifying and sustaining volunteer programing at Brooklyn Methodist. The Program Coordinator will collaborate with staff of assigned departments to design, launch and foster a wide array of volunteer programs.
The shift for this position will be Mon-Fri (8:30AM-4:30PM) at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist.
Essential Duties:
Designs volunteer roles and programs in collaboration with the Manager/Director of Volunteer Services and facility staff.
Assist in the general administration of the NewYork-Presbyterian volunteer program.
Maintains volunteers’ database, compiles dashboard data, and creates monthly reports on volunteer numbers and activities.
Participates as an active member of the Volunteer Services Department leadership and staff team. Serves on relevant department level performance improvement and other work groups.
Maintains effective communications with hospital departments and staff to ensure responsible and effective delivery of volunteer services, including administration of Quality Assurance evaluations.
Implements Volunteer Services Department goals and objectives.
Supports volunteers and nurtures existing programs and projects. Coordinates special requests for volunteers in support of special hospital activities/events.
Maintains sufficient knowledge of Hospital and department policies to enhance both volunteer and community relations.
Works with leadership and key departments to support community relations.
Maintain regular contact with referral sources, meeting community relations goals established.
Promote the diversity of the neighborhood through cultural initiatives and programming. Assist in integrating the visual and performing arts to have a positive impact both on the patient’s healing process and on staff morale.
Serves as the on-site contact person for volunteer and community related issues at the facility.
Serves as a liaison for volunteer services and stakeholders.
Performs other job related duties as assigned. Qualifications
Preferred Criteria:
Experience in administration and coordination of department staff
Volunteer management experience
Knowledge of healthcare regulations and requirements for volunteers
Experience in training
Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, specifically Excel
Required Criteria:
Bachelor's Degree
Minimum of 2 years of related experience
Broad knowledge of healthcare and the healthcare environment
Ability to collaboration with other healthcare providers and community groups
Ability to develop excellent interpersonal relationships
Demonstrated competence in oral and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
Experience with computers and word processing skills
