Midwife – Per Diem – Brooklyn Medical Group
Under the supervision of the Director of Midwifery, provides antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, neonatal, interconceptional and gynecological care in accordance with the OB GYN Department protocols.
Essential Job Duties
- Participates in resident education programs consistent with the goals of the ACGME
- Assumes other responsibilities as determined by the Director of Midwifery in the Department of Obstetrics/Gynecology
- Participates in the treatment of obstetrical patients on the Labor and Delivery and Postpartum service and affiliated ambulatory sites.
- Participates in 24/7 midwifery care as scheduled by the Director of Midwifery
- Participates and contributes to Departmental and hospital wide committee meetings.
- Administrative tasks as assigned by the Directory of Midwifery
- Complies with goals and objectives, policies and procedures and management plans and initiatives for midwifery services
- Provides coverage of inpatient and outpatient areas as determined by the Director of Midwifery.
- Complies with NYS requirements for midwives
- Maintains productive working relations with other departments
- Participates in research and CE activities
- Performs clinical midwifery functions as needed
- Provides prenatal, postpartum, family planning, contraception health promotion preventative health screenings, routine midwifery care. Attends labors and births at NYPBM Hospital
- Provides teaching, supervision and instruction to residents and students as needed
- Maintains professional licenses and certificates
- Interacts with patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees in a considerate, helpful, and courteous manner
- Demonstrates sensitivity to cultural differences.
- Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department/unit team to facilitate goals and objectives.
- Maintains confidentiality of all hospital and patient information.
- Presents neat appearance in proper attire and identification as required by position and hospital policy.
- Fosters mature professional relationships with fellow employees
- Displays sensitivity to needs of patients, visitors and coworkers
- Always Upholds the New York Presbyterian’s Respect Credo.
This position requires working at least 2 days a week when needed.
Preferred Criteria
- Experience working as a midwife
Required Criteria
- Master’s Degree in clinical specialty
- Current NYS Midwifery License
- 5 years of working experience as a midwife
