Message From The Chief Nursing Executive

As one of the most trusted professions, nursing has a profound impact on patient and family well-being and the health of our communities. I am extremely proud of our dedicated and extremely talented nurses at NewYork-Presbyterian. They embody Magnet® principles every day as they care for our patients and their families with clinical proficiency, with compassion, and with a strong personal commitment to putting our patients first.

Nurses at NewYork-Presbyterian have a tremendous opportunity to engage, inspire and contribute to extraordinary patient care in collaboration with their interprofessional colleagues and each other. They continue to drive nursing excellence through a culture of continuous learning, inquiry and research. Through nurses’ words and deeds, their contributions are apparent every day in the care they deliver and the outcomes they achieve. Our nurses are supported by a team of highly dedicated transformational nurse leaders who promote shared governance structures that enhance the voice of nurses at NewYork-Presbyterian.

Nursing Strategic Plan

The Department of Nursing strives to support NewYork-Presbyterian’s mission, vision and strategic priorities. To ensure organizational alignment, unwavering focus and success, the Department of Nursing created a multi-year Strategic Plan. This plan serves as the framework for the Department of Nursing’s journey towards excellence.

The Strategic Plan consists of the following major domains: professional development and education, quality and patient safety, advancing care, operational excellence, technology innovation, nursing engagement, and patient-family experience.

NYP Nurses at all levels across the enterprise helped formulate the plan and more importantly, the roadmap and tactics to meet the goals and strategic priorities. To this end, NYP Nurses are able to own their practice, provide the best care that our patients need and deserve, and support the needs of our community.
