Minimum education requirements.

High school diploma. or GED Required

Associate Degree preferred. 

Required Criteria:

Minimum knowledge of position’s principles, techniques, practices and procedures, skills

 and prior experience required to perform the job.  Includes:  machinery, tools or equipment                                      

Minimum five years physician billing experience required and/or 5-7 years direct staff supervisory experience. 

Complete knowledge of New York State third-party regulations required.

Complete knowledge of computer systems required.

Excellent oral and written communications; planning and organization; teamwork.

Excellent organizational skills necessary to supervise and coordinate work functions. 

Superior communication skills required.  Must prepare own correspondence. 

Ability to represent practice on interdisciplinary committee and demonstrate clear concise oral and written communication skills.


Assists in identifying goals, developing improvements to systems and ensures quality controls are set in place.

Assists with the development of Billing Policies and Procedures for each entity and unit and communicates approved policies effectively with all personnel.

Develops reports and productivity measures for presentation to the Managers and Administrative Director.

Responsible to A/R monitoring and ensures targets are met.

Responsible for denials or rejections from third party carriers.

Evaluates patient accounts for appropriate action.

Reviews and approves refunds, bad debt write off and charity care write offs.

Develops structures and monitors staff activity.

Collects data and creates reports for Manger.

Acts as a liaison for the Practice.

Handles inquiries from patients and/or third party payers or other departments within the Medical Practices.

Additional duties as required.
