Under general supervision of Perioperative Services, this Operating Room Tech III is intended to coordinate and facilitate the technical interfaces for neurosurgery. The reliance on conventional and advanced technical platforms in neurosurgery has outgrown the capability of this role being assumed by clinical nursing. Existing platforms that are heavily dependent on informational processing, engineering and mechanics, device design, and industry-defined standard operating procedures warrants a focused technical role. Relationships and dependency on industry specialists also demands a continuous dialogue and access portal to ensure uninterrupted workflows. This role provides a technical link between the surgeon, the OR nursing staff, Central Sterile Processing (CSPD), biomedical engineering, informational technology (IT), and equipment. The objectives with this new position are to increase surgical volume capacity and ensure patient safety by improving on-time performance, shortening case duration, reducing turnover time (neuro block currently has the longest TOT of all specialties), decreasing processing time, and facilitating the recognition and remediation of equipment issues. The Operating Room Tech III will participate in:
