Senior Neuroscience Technician - Intraoperative Monitoring (IOM)

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Neurophysiology Technologist to join our team. In this role, you will work in collaboration with Board-Certified Neurologists and Board-Certified Technologists to perform intraoperative monitoring of a wide variety of surgical procedures (including neurosurgery, otolaryngology, vascular and orthopedic cases) in which neural structures are at risk, such as brain and spine tumors, AVMs, spinal fusions, middle ear surgeries and miscellaneous peripheral and cranial nerve procedures.

As a Senior Neuroscience Technician, you will :

  • Perform intraoperative neurophysiology recordings and preoperative baseline studies under direction of Neurophysiologist
  • Perform clinical Evoked Potential studies (EP) and Nerve Conduction (NCV) studies
  • Support staff development and quality assurance programs to ensure up to date quality of patient assessments and high productivity
  • Utilize new technologies, equipment, procedures to improve patient assessment and care
  • Perform routine Electroencephalogram (EEG) and Ambulatory EEG studies
  • Prepare and maintain equipment, post billing charges
  • Communicate with surgeons and with the neurophysiologist who is supervising the IOM regarding the status of data, maintain records of IOM data and of corresponding surgical maneuvers

This position is Monday - Friday from either 7:00 am - 3:00 pm or 9:00 am-5:00 pm plus rotating holidays.


Preferred Criteria

  • Associates Degree (in relevant science) or Bachelor's degree (in relevant science)
  • CNIM certification
  • 1-2 years of experience with intraoperative neurological monitoring (IOM)
  • Attention to detail, vigilance, poise and composure in stressful situations
  • Ability to troubleshoot common monitoring problems

Required Criteria

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1 year of EEG, Evoked Potential, EMG, or Transcranial Doppler experience and demonstrated ability to meet competencies of the department
  • Must possess an advanced knowledge of normal and abnormal EEG, evoked potential, and/or EMG patterns and/or a working knowledge of abnormalities on diagnostic EEG studies, evoked potential studies, nerve conduction studies, and/or epilepsy monitoring studies or advanced knowledge of Transcranial Doppler’s
