Project Leader - Financial Planning, HERCULES Performance Improvement

Step into the #1-ranked hospital in New York (U.S. News & World Report) as the HERCULES Project Leader.  As Project Leader, you will collaborate in the development and oversight of HERCULES PMO infrastructure. HERCULES is the cornerstone of New York Presbyterian’s performance improvement and cost transformation program. Our mission is to engage and empower leadership with the tools and resources to build a culture of continuous performance improvement and drive value through affordability and sustained high quality patient care. Some key tasks include: help build robust project management infrastructure, including processes for project prioritization risk assessment, resource utilization management, and best practice tools and templates; design, build and provide expert leadership for tracking of financial impact; coordinate efforts between HERCULES and budgeting departments; and support the HERCULES annual pipeline development process. In this role, you will manage the Off-Budget Investment Team (OBIT) process. OBIT is NYP’s main forum to evaluate requests for unbudgeted resources, a key component of the HERCULES. Through OBIT, operational teams present business plans to a multidisciplinary committee requesting additional resources to help solve clinical and non-clinical issues across the entire hospital system. Some key tasks include: lead communications with the OBIT Committee and project submission teams, working closely with the OBIT Committee Facilitator (VP of Financial Planning); support project submission teams as they develop business plans and navigate the OBIT process (i.e., provide feedback on quality of business case, anticipate OBIT Committee questions and challenges, ensure timely submission of materials); manage the project pipeline and logistics (i.e., assign projects to HERCULES Black Belts, manage OBIT tracker and calendar); report on program performance; develop reports and presentations as necessary; collaborate with HERCULES analysts to ensure correct measurement of individual project performance. Support the VP of Financial Planning and Director of Performance Improvement developing structured presentations and clear communications for all levels of operation – Board Members, senior leadership, operational leadership, frontline staff, and team members and other duties as assigned.

Preferred Criteria

  • Master's degree
  • Health care experience
  • Experience with project management and pipeline development

Required Criteria

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Health Care, Public Administration or a related field
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with all organizational levels
