HIM Data Specialist - Midtown Location

In this pivotal role, conduct ongoing medical record review and quality assurance monitors.  Enter, verify and correct data entered to various hospital computer systems.  Open and close Eclipsys charts as needed for deficiency completion.  Produce quarterly computer lists of discharged patients by treatment area. Select, pull charts and complete Medical Record Review using the Ongoing Medical Record Review tool. Utilizing Excel spreadsheets, tabulate and summarize data into a report for submission to the Manager of the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital – Health Information Management Department. Complete quarterly Attending Progress Note Monitor. Review patient records, tabulates the results and produces the final report for submission to the Performance Improvement/Quality Assurance Committee.

Preferred Criteria

  •  Proficiency with Microsoft Word 

Required Criteria

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Minimum of two years business/medical secretarial education/experience
  • Ability to operate a PC for work processing and data entry/retrieval functions 
  • Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills, orientation to accuracy and detail and ability to relate to relate to a variety of professional staff
