Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) – Critical-Care

Working alongside Columbia doctors, you’ll be an integral partner in the delivery of team-based care to our most critically-ill patients. In this clinical leadership role you will serve as a change-agent; leveraging your clinical expertise to enhance healthcare delivery and quality outcomes for our 12-bed medical-surgical ICU and 25-bed medical stepdown unit.

Key responsibilities include:  

  • Leading quality, safety, and process improvement initiatives
  • Developing and implementing action plans in response to changes in benchmark data.
  • Identifying and implementing strategies to improve clinical practice.
  • Providing expert consultation to nurses caring for complex patients.
  • Assessing learning needs and coordinating unit-based education and development initiatives.
  • Mentoring nursing and ancillary staff on the application of evidence-based practice

Preferred Criteria

  • Experience applying principles of continuous quality improvement   
  • CCRN (Adult) or PCCN certification
  • ACLS Certification

Required Criteria

  • NYS RN licensure
  • Master’s degree in Nursing
  • ANCC Board Certified Clinical Nurse Specialist and specialty certification in Adult Health
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant nursing experience
  • Excellent communication, presentation and teamwork skills, who has a commitment to compassionate care
