In this role, under the direction of Pharmacy Administration (including the Chief of Pharmacy and Directors) and under the direct supervision of the Pharmacy Informatics and/or Quality Coordinators and Operations Supervisors, the Pharmacy Technician Informatics (PTI) shall assist in pharmacy activities and assume an important supportive role in the pharmacy informatics department. Duties included, but are not limited to, the support of automation and technology systems management, the management of small projects, staff training and education, policy and governance, customer service, pharmacy charge integrity, and reporting. The Pharmacy Informatics Technician must show knowledge of system interfaces, computer management techniques, problem resolution, and database maintenance. With appropriate safeguards and supervision, the pharmacy technician informatics (PTIs) will help manage IT processes at NYP Brooklyn Methodist Hospital and ensure a safe and efficient medication-use process. Compliance to department policies and procedures are mandatory.  Additionally, the Pharmacy Informatics Technician must abide by all regulations set aside by the institution and regulatory agencies (i.e. the Food and Drug Administration, Drug Enforcement Administration, Department of Health). This includes, but is not limited to, federal and state regulations regarding controlled substances. A registered pharmacist will always directly supervise and is responsible for all performance and activities performed by the Pharmacy Informatics Technician.

Preferred Criteria:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience with using automatic dispensing machines.


    Required Criteria:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in hospital pharmacy services.
  • Pharmacy technician certification.
  • Proficient in computer literacy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
