Essential Job Duties
Greets patients, visitors and employees conducting oneself in a courteous manner. Answers telephones promptly in a clear and courteous manner. Identifies oneself to callers and patients by name and department. Takes and relays messages and provides routine information. Responds to inquiries politely and promptly. Refers matters outside the scope of own duties to appropriate others as necessary keeping callers, patients, and visitors informed as needed.
Transcribes dictated information from various systems or written documents, conforming to specific department format and Joint Commission requirements.
Verifies against source documents to ensure accuracy of input. Resolves discrepancies as necessary.
Prints final copy of reports.
May be required to distribute reports as dictated by department management.
Performs other job related duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required (R) Preferred (P)
High School Diploma or GED
Six months experience as a medical transcriber
Knowledge of medical terminology
Excellent spelling and grammar
Type minimum of 55 wpm
