Child Life Specialist- Pediatric Emergency Department- Day Shift Monday-Friday

In this role, the Child Life Specialist (CLS) will provide psychosocial and developmentally based assessments and support to patients and their families. As a member of the interdisciplinary care team based in the pediatric emergency department, the CLS will strive to enhance the quality of patient care through participation, documentation and communication of care plans and treatment goals. The Child Life Specialist will work collaboratively with volunteers and will precept child life practicum and internship students when applicable.

Additionally, the Child Life Specialist will contribute to expanding and enhancing the child life services and programming offered throughout the Hospital in order to provide the best possible patient experience.

Preferred Criteria:

• Master’s Degree in child life or related field.
• Minimum of 1-year experience as a child life specialist, preferably with pediatric emergency room experience.
• Work experience with children, youth and families in a non-healthcare setting.

Required Criteria:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Child Life or a related field.
• Association of Child Life Professionals (ACLP) verified internship hours (minimum 480 hours).
• Certification as Child Life Specialist (CCLS) or eligible for certification within 1 year of hire.
