It’s easy to see that Per Diem Nurses at NYP embrace the best of nursing - compassionate care, supportive leadership, evidence-based practice, quality outcomes - while leading rich and active lives.

Here’s your opportunity to discover and explore exceptionally specialized units with award winning nursing teams at one of the world’s largest academic medical centers-on your terms and on your schedule. No two days need be the same when you’re coordinating your schedule, with only two shifts per month required and the opportunity to increase your shifts to what meets your personal needs.

Our Per Diem RNs receive generous pay while also gaining first hand exposure to new and specialized units. Imagine the opportunity to network with a multitude of clinicians: ones who will appreciate the skills you bring and provide you with engaging patient assignments.

Real Flexibility
When we say we support Per Diem RN flexibility, that’s exactly what we mean. So customize your schedule. Work with a coordinator who "gets it" to plan your calendar two months in advance or the day before. You decide. Gain the stability you need from a growing hospital system that, our Per Diem RNs tell us, rarely calls off a shift.

We’re proud that expert Per Diem RNs can hit the ground running in our patient-focused environments. We’re prouder that our Per Diems are also parents, snowboarders, woodworkers, world travelers , students, and soccer coaches. In this highly flexible program, professional success equates with personal growth.

Pay & Perks
Per Diem pay here is outstanding - competitive with top agency rates. Perhaps that’s why so many Per Diems drive past two or three other hospitals on their commutes to NYP. Many of our outstanding nurses use the options available to them to float to different units and discover the nursing unit that truly speaks to’s their opportunity to find their home here at NYP.

Most importantly, this job is convenient. It’s designed to meet you halfway to find room for nursing on your busy calendar. Additionally, most find our parking options to be surprisingly reasonable. Per Diem nurses are eligible to transfer to full time after 6 months.

Shared Governance
Per Diem RNs at NYP have a voice. We actively participate in morning rounds. Additionally, Per Diem RNs are on unit advisory councils and shared governance committees. That’s because we fundamentally believe in "We Put Patients First." We recognize that the quality of care you deliver, as a Per Diem RN, is fundamentally no different than the care delivered from a full-time staff nurse.
