Challenge
Nursing at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital is all about embracing challenge and exploring the forefront of our profession. We seize opportunities by becoming leaders in our departments and specialties. Through centralized and local educational programs, we learn continuously.

Preparation
Our nurses advance, move up professionally and actualize their potential. A Bachelor's of Science in Nursing is preferred for all our registered professional nurses, with graduate degrees required for our nurse leaders. Certification in a nurse’s specialty is highly recommended as soon as eligibility requirements are met. Certification is so important to us that we offer on-site certification preparation classes for nearly all certification tests.

Annual Competency Assessment
All licensed personnel are required to maintain and document achievement of required clinical and age-specific competencies. Competency assessment is a continuous system that ensures competence throughout the Department of Nursing. The process begins when an individual is being considered for a position and extends throughout his/her career at NewYork-Presbyterian.
