  • How do I search and explore current job openings?
    All current job openings are listed online at www.nyp.org/careers. This includes opportunities for all of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital locations.

  • I registered online but can’t remember my password. What do I do?
    If you forgot your password, click on the “Login Help” link, in the login box, to promptly receive an email reminder of your login information.

  • Why is an email address required?
    Due to a high volume of applicants, email may be used to contact you regarding the status of your application. Please provide an email address you check regularly. This is our best means to communicate with you.

  • What if the opportunity I’m looking for is not available?
    There may not be current openings for the job you are interested in. However, the careers website is updated frequently. It’s the most up-to-date source for job openings. Feel free to create a profile and upload a resume, so that you may quickly apply when the desired position is available.

  • I’d like to personalize my cover letter to the appropriate individual. How can I find out his or her name?
    It’s not necessary to address a cover letter to a specific individual. Various recruiters and hiring managers may be working with your application to find the best fit for you.

  • How do I upload a cover letter to my application?
    To do this, you must complete and submit your application. You will then be on the My Career Tools page. From here you can upload a cover letter as an attachment to your application and it will be visible to all recruiters.

  • I am having trouble with the application school code. What should I do?
    If you are unable to locate your school code in the list, you can type in the name of your school in the box labeled “Other.”

  • What format should my resume be in?
    Please submit your resume in Microsoft Word or Adobe PDF.

  • How should I fill-in my previous employer information if I’ve worked with an agency?
    As part of the NewYork-Presbyterian on boarding process, NYP verifies your last 7 years of employment history. If you are working with a temporary agency, consultant, or as a travel nurse, be sure to list the name of your employer, as well as your assignment.

  • How should I answer the questions at the end of the application?
    Please consider the questions to be part of the application and answer them accurately and as they apply to you. The Hospital values exceptional quality and will not consider applicants who do not answer the application questions accurately.

  • How do I know I submitted an application successfully?
    We now give an immediate response once a successful application is submitted, which is visible on the site in the “Online Screening Results” section. If you missed this message, you are able to log into your account and review your previous applications under the “My Career Tools” section to review the status. Click on the position and a message will appear telling you of the status.

  • Can I apply to more than one job opportunity at a time?
    Yes, if you are interested in several different job openings. However, it is not necessary to apply to all open positions in a specific field. For example, if you are applying for a staff nurse position, you are not required to apply to every specialty (just to the ones you are interested in).

  • What is the best internet browser to complete the NYP online application?
    The latest version of either Internet Explorer or Firefox. Using other browsers may result in errors or the inability to properly complete the application process.

  • I applied online and have not received feedback. What’s the status?
    If your application was successfully submitted and qualified for further review as stated in the Online Screening Results section and you have not received a response after several business days, please check that your contact information in your profile is listed and up to date.

    A Human Resources representative will contact you by telephone or email with more information about the position.

  • What should I bring to my interview?
    All candidates should bring an updated copy of their resume/CV and any other information that would assist the recruiter in evaluating competencies for the position of interest. We expect you to be prepared with the following information:
    • Full legal name, former names, present and previous address history. Comprehensive Employment History: 10 to 15 years.
    • For each employer: start and end date of employment, title and supervisor’s contact info.
    • Contact information for three recent professional references including title and organization.
    • Educational history including name, address and date of graduation, if post secondary education.

  • Is there a hospital dress code?
    The hospital is judged in large part by the people who work for it. For this reason, it’s important that employees maintain a neat appearance and proper hygiene. For positions that do not require uniforms, employees are expected to wear proper-fitting clothing that will bring credit to the hospital.

  • Is there an orientation program?
    All new full-time, part-time and temporary employees attend the hospital-wide orientation program within 30 days of their start date.
